Totally agree with number 1! nothing can beat the moment when you unexpectedly make a friend in a hostel dorm, on a bus, etc. last year I came to my hostel after a long, tiring & disappointing day and i met this japanese girl. we ended up talking for hours (using Google translate & mylimited japanese vocab). she made my day.
I love feeling connected with people from different nationalities, ages, etc. I guess that’s the perk of traveling!
