The great state of California is symbolized in its capitol. Located in Sacramento, the California Capitol Building is a remarkable architecture structure that blend the unique with the classical. One of the dominating figures is the dome, which has been patterned after the Capitol Building in Washington, with a façade that includes classical Corinthian pillars. At top of the dome is the Greek goddess Athena, symbolizing wisdom and knowledge.

In the interior of the Capitol Building is statuary of the Spanish monarch Isabella along with explorer Christopher Columbus. Â This statue represents the founding of the new world, and Columbus’ voyage to discover lands in the new world. How fitting, since California was once part of the Spanish Empire. Â Also in the interior are beautiful classical balustrades with ornate designs spiraling along the dome.
Aside from its Hispanic influence, one can also find the British influence as well. The Californian Senate chamber has been patterned after the House of Lords, and the Assembly chamber after the House of Commons.  From the inside, one could almost have mistaken this for the Parliament House in London.
The lush gardens surround the Capitol Building add to its impressive appearance, adding one more reason to make a visit here worth your time.

What I love about traveling is that you can learn about new cultures, explore new places, taste their food and get the chance to meet exciting and interesting people. I love going to the beach. I want to go to places that have snow since we have a tropical weather here. I always wonder what it feels like!
